Basement Waterproofing Mississauga

The first step is to establish the location of the cracks in the foundation walls. We set up tarps and dig down to the footings so we don’t miss any cracks.

Next, we clean the exposed walls with a wire brush. We then chisel out the cracks, install hydraulic cement using a trowel, and let the cement set.

After setting the hydraulic cement, we apply a quick-drying primer to the foundation walls. The primer helps provide aggressive adhesion to the walls, which is needed in subsequent steps in the waterproofing process.

A special rubberized membrane is applied to the entire wall using a trowel. This rubberized membrane is impermeable to air, moisture, and liquid water. A layer of fiberglass mesh is also applied to provide flexibility to the membrane while keeping its integrity. Another layer of rubberized membrane is then applied again, creating a double coat and extra protection. This will guarantee that no water can pass through.

We apply a layer of thick plastic in the membranes while the patch is still sticky. After that, we install drainage board on top of the quadruple-layered membrane. It acts as an additional layer, preventing water from reaching the foundation wall while protecting the membrane behind it during the backfilling.

The existing weeping tile drainage is replaced. A new weeping tile system is installed and is surrounded by a filter sock that helps to clean fine particles from groundwater and eases the drainage process.

Now, we start the backfilling process. We first like to fill the top and around the weeping tile system with clear gravel to ensure consistent and rapid drainage. After that, the native soil is installed back into the excavation. Power tamping the soil every 6″ -12″ inches ensures that the drainage is consistent and that the rubberized membrane and waterproofing system are locked into place, restoring the original grade within the repaired areas.

A termination strip is attached to the top of the drainage board to ensure that the strip does not separate from the board. After completion, everything within the repaired area is washed and swept.

The process of outside basement waterproofing (or exterior basement waterproofing) is as follows: - First, we lay out tarps and excavate to the footings of the basement by hand - Next, we clean the concrete foundation wall and repair any masonry defects in the wall (cracks, tie rod holes, voids) etc. - Then we prime the concrete foundation wall and apply a rubberized membrane with fiberglass mesh. Another layer of rubberized membrane is then applied. - The final layer of the membrane is Platon drainage board. Sonotube foundation reinforcements are a process of fixing concrete foundations and structures made of circular tubes filled with concrete (sonotubes). This process involves digging and exposing the existing concrete sonotubes, installing shoring supports to hold up the foundation and removing the existing circular concrete supports. Then, new oversized sonotubes are installed and poured with new footings combined with a metal saddle bracket that connect directly to the structure. Once the new sonotubes cure, the shoring is removed and the soil is backfilled.
